Usher's Got It Bad
October 10th 2006 06:33
Usher Raymond IV was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. His singing ability was noticed when he started singing in the church choir.
When Usher was turning 15 he had released his debut LaFace single which made the R&B chart in late-1993, "Call Me a Mack," from the movie soundtrack of John Singleton's Poetic Justice (Wikipedia). In 1994 he released a self titled album 'Usher' where P.Diddy helped co-executive produce. This album did not do very well in the charts and only sold 100 000 copies worldwide. From that point, Usher did not like the angle the album was taking and he therefore decided to concentrate on his school work.
In 1997 he developed a very close frienship with Jermaine Dupri and released the song 'You Make Me Wanna' which hit number 1 on the U.S RnB charts within the second week from the album "My Way". His next album Live was released in 1999 which was then followed by
the album 8701 in 2001. The album was entitled "8701" because it stands for its release date of August 7, 2001, or 8/7/01. The songs 'Pop Your Collar' which hit number 2 in the U.K and 'You Remind Me' which hit number 1 on the U.S chart also feature on this album.
"Confessions" was then released in 2004 around the same time Lil Jon produced 'Yeah'. 'This success was simultaneously extended by the releases of the album's second single, "Burn", and third single, "Confessions Part II"' (wikipedia). Currently in 2006 Usher is playing the role of Billy Flynn in the long-running Broadway musical, Chicago. This will continue until the 14th of October.
He has featured in a variety of movies such as The Faculty (1998), She's All That (1999), Light It Up (1999), Texas Rangers (2001) In The Mix (2005) and The Ballad of Walter Holmes (2006). usher has also featured in many television shows shuch as 7th Heaven, Bold and the Beautiful, Soul Food, Geppetto, Moesha and The Twilight Zone.
