Jermaine Dupri a.k.a JD was born on September 23, 1972. He is a record producer and rapper. He was born in North Carolina, and grew up in Georgia.
At the tender age of fourteen, Dupri became the youngest charting producer in the history of music. Dupri has his own label, So So Def Records, which revolves around Southern Hip Hop, RnB, and Bass music. It has been the home to many artists such as, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, and Xscape.
In 1998, he worked with Jay-Z, and Jay- Z's song 'Money Ain't A Thing'.
In 2001, he helped Ludacris with his song, 'Welcome to Atlanta', and in 2005, he worked with Mariah Carey, 'Get Your Number'. Apart from these popular artists, he has also worked with Usher, Kanye West, Twista, J-Kwon, Dem Franchize Boyz, Nelly, and Chingy.
On August 9th 2006, Dupri was listed as one of the top ten richest people in the Hip Hop industry.
Dupri has had minor feuds with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Timberland, and Xzibit. 'Dupri claimed that he did more complete work on production than Dre or Timbaland.' (Wikipedia). Dr Dre decided to write a rap about Dupri on Eminem's track, 'Say What You Say'. Both artists continued to produce songs that were full of insults. Eminem and Xzibit both insulted Dupri on Xzibit's track called, 'My Name'. Seriously fellas, grow up!
