The robot is a dance style combined with popping.
When a person robots they try to imitate a dancing robot. Their body joints are bent, and are further enhanced with small pops to create the illusion of stopping and starting.
A similar style to roboting is called the broken robot, where the dancer shakes rapidly to show that the robot is breaking down.
The robot dance became famous when Michael Jackson devised a routine in 1974, 'Dancing Machine'. The musician Buckethead is also known for robot dancing.
I must stress this point in my article, that the robot dance is totally different from liquid dancing and popping.
