Reggae

December 29th 2006 08:09
Reggae was developed in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term reggae is used broadly to refer to most types of Jamaican music.

A variety of instruments are used to play reggae music, and they consist of the drum, the bass, the rhythm guitar, the piano, the organ, the lead guitar, the percussion, the horns, and the melodica.

Bob Marley, a reggae musician helped popularize this genre world-wide. There has been many controversial issues in regards to some of the lyrics and themes in reggae music. Many of the lyrics and themes revolve around cannabis, homophobia, African militancy, anti racism, misogyny, anti-colonialism, and anti-capitalism.

Despite this, many people claim that Bob Marley's reggae music has changed their lives and their way of thinking in many aspects. Modern day reggae music would be performed by artists like Sean Paul.

The first clip is Bob Marley performing, and the second clip is Sean Paul's 'Tempretaure' clip. In the second clip, between 2.08 and the 2.17 minute mark, you will see three male dancers dancing reggae.
