Mario Dewar Barrett aka Mario is a 20 year old RnB singer, that has wanted to have a career in singing since the age of four. He learned to play piano so that he could mix and match musical melodies for his songs.
At the age of 11 he was offered a record deal with J Records, which is also the same company, Alicia Keys, Luther Vandross, Cassidy, Monica and many more artists have signed contracts with.
Mario recorded his first album, entitled "MARIO" when he was 15, which was released in July 2002. The album was known for his two hit songs, 'Just a Friend' and 'Braid My Hair'. The album has sold over 709,000 copies to date.
In December 2004, Mario released his 2nd album, "TURNING POINT". He wanted to record an album that was more mature than his first,and "TURNING POINT" was the album that represented his aim. It sold over 1.2 million copies, and the reason why this album did so much better than the first was because Ne-Yo had written the hit single, 'Let Me Love You'. Other singles
included, 'How Could You' and 'Here I Go Again'. The 'Here I Go Again' video clip featured Cassie; former model and RnB singer.
His upcoming album, "MARIO BARRETT-EFFORTLESS" will be released on November 28, 2006, which was collaborated with Jermaine Dupri, Ne-Yo, Scott Storch, Akon, Nelly, Alicia Keys, and many more. He has also starred along side Jenna Dewan in the latest hip-hop/ballet film, 'Step Up'.
