CRIP WALK
December 15th 2006 07:09
The Crip Walk, a.k.a C-Walk is a dance that was created in the early
1990s in Compton, California.
Members of the Crips would move their feet to spell out their names or other Crip words. For instance, they would spell out the word Bloods and then cross it out because that was the name of their rival gang. The C-Walk is also danced when a new member joins the gang or as a warning to other members when, for example, there is a build up to a robbery.
The Crip walk has inspired others to do their own versions, such as the Clown Walk or the Blood Walk a.k.a the B Walk.
There are variations of Crip Walk and they include, The V, The V Step back, The Heel-Toe, The Heel-Hop, and The Shuffle. The Crip Walk can also be spelt as Krypt, Crypt and Krip. The reasons for these variations is due to people trying to separate it from its gang origin. Artists such as Bow Wow and B2K have been criticised for dancing the C-Walk in their film clips while wearing red - a blood colour.

as an aside i remember seeing the movie colors when i was real young and thought it was badass. when i saw it again recently i couldn't stop laughing at the inadvertent comedy.
also i've been to compton and it isn't that bad.

its not the same
Crip walk is a gang dance
and Clown walk is a modern and faster type of the old crip walk and has nothing to do with the gang crip
